Tom Gabriel retired, or at least he thought he had. All he wants to do is join his dead wife Carrie, but life and death are never that simple. Allegre wants Tom to find out who’s been sending her 1950s Ellis Island tourist postcards on the same date for the past five years, but she’s only telling him half the truth. Rae wants his help with the disappearance of a mystery writer from a locked room in the Keepers’ House at the St Augustine Lighthouse, but then she disappears as well. Children are going missing in Grand Junction, Colorado, and Cassie tells him that Dino is next, but the only clue is a pencil drawing of a spider. His daughter Misty wants money to turn her life around, but money turns out to be the root of all evil, especially for his other daughter - Sara. |
The crime rate in St. Augustine has increased to unacceptably high levels and Rae decides to investigate by launching a media campaign to find out who the public think is responsible, but then she receives a phone call from a man who says he’s the person who’s going to kill her. When an investigative journalist’s fifteen year-old daughter – Grace – comes to see Tom and tells him that she doesn’t believe her father would be so selfish as to take his own life in a hotel room and leave her all alone, he decides to take on the case. His eldest daughter Sara flies from Grand Junction in Colorado for a visit, but on the way back from picking her up from the airport, she is abducted. He then receives a phone call offering to return Sara for photographs he knows nothing about. His younger daughter – Misty – is being sold for sex by men in a motel in Kentucky, so he employs a team of ex-military mercenaries to rescue her. |
